About Mossy Creek Pony Club
Mossy Creek Pony Club got started in 1998, with just five families. Mossy Creek Pony club was started by Mrs. Debbie Lochner, when she moved from Oklahoma to Georgia. We are now a club of ten families, and hope to keep growing.
What is Pony Club???
The United States Pony Clubs, Inc, is a national organization that teaches riding, mounted sports and the care of horses and ponies to children under 25 years of age. In addition to its instructional function, USPC provides opportunities for competition in the various horse sports. Clubs may vary in size and activities according to the interests of the members.
What do we need or need to know to join Pony Club???
We reccomend that you come to at least two meeting before you join our club, this is so you have a chance to find out what we do and if this is something your child wants to do.
Due to legal issues, we cannot let your child ride until they join, but they do get to help brush and tack up any of the horses.
Age limit:
Max: 25 years old Min: No Age. It is highly recommended that they be able to ride by themselves.
Financial:
Dues are a total of $160.00* * indicates prices may change.
There may be a discount for having more than one child in the local club.
Additional charges are involved in attending rallies, Quiz, and clinics.
We make every attempt to keep these and all other activities affordable for all members.
The following is the break down of prices and what they are used for.
National Dues: which include Insurance for meetings and rallies, registration and other office fees
$115 New Member for 2010 joining between 01/01/10 and 12/31/10
$140 Prorated New Member for 9/01/09 and 12/31/09 and all of 2010
$95 Renewal for current members for 2010 postmarked by 11/15/09
$120 Prorated for current member for 09/01/09 and 12/31/09 for remainder of 2009 and all of 2010
$105 Late Renewal for 2010 postmarked by 11/15/09
South Region Dues: Office fees and registration for the region
If you join during the following
$27.00 (Prorated Sept09-Dec10)
$20.00 (Yearly Jan10-Dec10)
$5.00 (late fee after Nov 15 2009)
Mossy Creek Pony Club Dues:
$10.00 Club Sponsor’s Yearly Fee (Usually Per family, but you may have more than one sponsor, this lets you vote in all club matters)
$15.00 Yearly Fee Club registration and other office fees
Attire:
For safety purposes, all riders are required to wear SEI approved helmet, boots with heels and long pants. boots and breeches are not required at all meetings, but are a must for any mounted competitions. Used items are for sale at a reasonable cost from Pony Club members.
Horses and or Ponies:
Owning a horse or having previous horse knowledge is not a requirement for joining Pony Club. Mounts must be Geldings or Mares 5 years of age or older. All mounts must have a current Coggins on file with the club. If you do not have a horse you may be able to arrange to borrow or lease a horse from another Pony Club member; however, it is up to you to make the necessary arrangements. If you do own your own horse or pony, it must be suitable to be ridden Safely with other horses and children.
Tack and Equipment:
Tack used at Pony Club should be safe and in good repair. Western tack may be used, but since jumping is taught at Pony Club, English tack is generally more suitable. All horse and ponies should be able to be ridden in a snaffle bit. All members must have a grooming kit that contains a hard and soft brush, a rubber curry comb, a plastic mane and tail comb or brush, sponges and a hoof pick. This is required whether you own your own horse or not.

We cannot accept any scanned, faxed or e-mailed copies, they MUST have an orginal signture of both the parent and the child joining.
I don’t have a child to join pony club, how can I still help out?
We are always looking for anyone that comes from a horse backround and is willing to help out in any way. A few of the things we need help with is building jumps, painting jumps, help teaching bookwork, help with riding instructions and snacks for after the meetings.
